Mardi Gras is almost upon us! This year, Fat Tuesday falls on February 21. Planning to spend the holiday in Scottsdale? Well, it may not be New Orleans, but there are still fabulous, festive ways to celebrate in town!

In our opinion, eating cajun food is one of the best ways to celebrate Mardi Gras in Scottsdale. These are a handful of our favorite spots.

Angry Crab Shack: This restaurant serves lots of dishes with cajun flavors, including po' boys, crawfish, oysters, shrimp, jambalaya, and, gumbo.

Ocean Trail: This upscale spot at the Talking Stick Resort serves scrumptious New Orleans-inspired seafood. On the menu, you'll find raw oysters, steamers, Cajun-style boils, and clam chowder.

Harbor Seafood Cajun House: This beloved restaurant has incredible classic cajun food- plus some very unique cajun-Asian fusion (like cajun-spiced edamame and a Louisiana sushi roll).

Baby Kay's Cajun Kitchen: This restaurant has been offering authentic creole and cajun dishes in a cheerful space in 1989! Popular dishes range from the jambalaya to the cajun burger. Everything is tasty!

Looking for an event? Check out the 3rd annual Mardi Gras Bar Crawl! On February 18th, Scottsdale will transform into Bourbon Street as bar crawlers come together for the best Mardi Gras party in town! A ticket includes

  • Tons of beads
  • A16oz Mardi Gras color changing stadium cup
  • Discounted food and drink specials at bars
  • No cover at participating bars
  • A Mardi Gras Masquerade mask (for the 1st 100 at registration)

... and more! Everyone dresses up and gets crazy. It is always a blast- and the photo ops are terrific!

You don't have to go to New Orleans to have a magical Mardi Gras! This year, celebrate in Scottsdale!
